From the Desk of Rabbi Yisroel Kaminetsky
November is one of the most exciting times of the year
at
Yeshiva, and one of the busiest. We thank all of our
parents for coming to
our ruach-filled parent son Melave Malka. You can
click on a link
in this email and see lots of pictures of that special
night. We are
looking forward to our Open House this sunday,
and our
Yeshiva
Shabbaton at the Swan Lake Hotel is right around
the
corner. It's no wonder
that the ruach level at the Yeshiva is at a real high
point. Please
make sure to send in the check for the Shabbaton as
soon as possible.
If you enjoy reading the DRS Address and seeing the
pictures of
what's going on, you can help us out by making
sure all
of our parents
are registered for this service. Please help us
spread
the word to make sure
that everyone is on our list. Have a great Shabbos!!
| DRS Melava Malka A Hit! |
 |
This past Motzai Shabbat, over 500 members of the
DRS family celebrated at the annual Parent-Son Melava
Malka. This event, a highlight of the school year,
celebrates the achievements of our talmidim in their
Judaic Studies as well as their outstanding character.
Following the award ceremony, our own Rabbi
Simcha Sussman, also of the music group
Shalsheles, gave and inspiring performance, which led
into an hour of ruach-filled dancing by the
students, teachers and parents. Special thanks go
to the DRS Parent Council, under the leadership of
Mrs. Bonnie Schertz, and Mrs. Rochel Schlusselberg,
as well as Chairperson Ruchi Hagler for organizing
the entire evening.

| DRS Debates! |
 |
The DRS Debate Team attended the first inter-yeshiva
debate tournament hosted by Central High School at
Stern College. Over thirteen yeshivot were
represented. When the dust settled, DRS walked
away with Third Place Best Team (Noach Lerman and
David Lasher). Observers from our freshman and
sophomore classes were extremely impressed by the
Seniors' debating talents. Debate Captains David Pinn
and Yosef Sharbat came away energized to finalize
their work on our own event: The Second Annual DRS
Debate Tournament, to be held at DRS on
November 19th. We look forward to a great year!

| DRS Athletics Update |
 |
It's November, and that means that DRS Athletics are
in full swing! This past week,
the DRS Junior Varsity hockey team showed up at the
North Shore Hebrew Academy gym ready to play
some hockey. Pumped up for their season opener,
the Wildcats came out flying. Eli Margulies
scored the first goal of the game and of the wildcats'
season, assisted by Dani Ross. By the end of
the first period, DRS was up 5-0. Yehuda Newman,
starting at goalie, shut down the Stars the first 2
periods, and going into the 3rd period, the Wildcats
were beating the Stars 10-0. Daniel Elsant and Eli
Cohen finished off the game in goal, and the
DRS Wildcats won the game 14-0. Dani Ross
led the team with 3 goals, followed by Eli
Margulies with 2 of his own.
In other sports news, the Junior-Senior Basketball
Intramural League just completed week 3 of
exciting games. Rabbi Yudin and David Moisa
are tied for the lead in scoring with averages of 17
points per game. For game reviews, stats, and
standings, click HERE!
We have two exciting season openers on
Motzai Shabbat. The Varsity basketball team begins
what is sure to be a phenomenal season with a game
at Rambam Mesivta at 8:00 PM, while the
Varsity Hockey Wildcats kick off their season with a
game at Westchester Hebrew High School at 8:00
PM as well. For directions to the game, click
on the link at the end of this article.
The 2nd annual DRS Wiffleball Tournament is
reaching an exciting climax, as the powerful Rebbe
team has played its way into the Final Four. Behind the
clutch hitting of Rabbis Brazil and Storch, and
the masterful pitching of Rabbi Erlbaum (0.00
ERA), they are truly a force to be reckoned with.

| DRS Helps Seniors Prepare for Study in Israel |
 |
This past Wednesday evening, November 5th, DRS
hosted representatives from 21 Israeli Yeshivot
for its annual Israel Night. Rabbi Elly Storch,
Director of Israel Guidance, was pleased with the
seniors' high level of interest in pursuing further studies
in Israel. The evening was a wonderful opportunity
for our seniors and their parents to get a firsthand look
at the various Yeshivot. The event marks just one
area in which the Yeshiva helps guide our students
through the often overwhelming process of choosing,
applying to, and preparing to attend a Yeshiva in Israel.
Sammy Goldsmith expressed the feeling of many seniors
when he said, "It was a real eye-opener to see the
various programs and meet so many fine
representatives." Josh Rosenfeld summed it up best
when he said that the evening was "an informative and
exciting look at the year to come."
