From the Desk of Rabbi Yisroel Kaminetsky
P.S.A.T. results were distributed in Yeshiva this
week, and special thanks to Mr. Rahr for going
over the results with the boys and explaining how the
boys could use the results to increase their S.A.T.
scores in the future.
What a wild and exciting week we have ahead!
Please check out our "Athletics and
Activities
Update" below for complete details on the
action-
packed upcoming sports schedule.
This week is a huge week for academic competitions
as well. On Sunday, our debate team travels to
MTA for a debate on "Resolved: Congress Should
Permit the Non Commercial Downloading and
Filesharing of Music With No Payment Requirement".
On Monday, Mrs. Hefter has organized a trip for her
law class, along with our Mock Trial Team, to tour
the New York City Supreme Court. They will be
meeting with judges and court clerks to get an inside
view of the legal system. Tuesday our College Bowl
Team competes, and Wednesday will be the snow-
postponed sophomore trip.
Did I leave something out? Oh, on
Thursday, the chess team hosts a match against
HAFTR. Otherwise, there's nothing much going on.
Have an inspiring Shabbos!!
| Torah Personalities Descend on DRS |
 |
This past week, our Yeshiva was privileged to hear
from several unique torah personalities, as our
Israel guidance office continues to offer the Senior
class as many opportunities as possible to examine
their options for Yeshivot in Israel. The Senior
class heard shiurim from Harav Aharon Bina, Rosh
Yeshiva of Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh,
Rav Eli Reich, Rebbi at Yeshivat Sha'alvim,
and Harav Azarya Berzon, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Shaarei
Mevaseret Tzion.
In addition, the entire yeshiva was given the unique
occasion to hear from Harav Aharon Lichtenstien,
Rosh Yeshiva of
Yeshivat
Har Etzion,
who gave a shiur and conducted a question and answer
session. The talmidim really appreciated the
opportunity to have their questions answered by
a Talmid Chacham of the stature of Rav Aharon. To

the interesting questions and answers in MP3 format,

| Mad Tisch Action Continues @ DRS |
 |
Mad Tisch Action continued at DRS, as the
Yeshiva held two special events this week in
anticipation of Chanukah. This past Thursday, the
Yeshiva held a special pre-Chanukah Tisch at
Rabbi Shmuel Brazil's house. About 30 boys
accompanied Rabbis Brazil, Klapholtz, Cohen, and
Gralla, as they took part in this inspirational program.
Rabbi Shmuel Brazil led the students in singing and
words of chizuk. The night proved to be a huge
success, and we look forward to having many more
nights filled with Torah and singing with Rabbi Brazil.
Over Shabbat, as the first snowstorm of the year
blanketed the Five Towns, over 100 boys braved
the weather to join their Rebbeim at Rabbi and
Rebbetzin Yudin's house for another Tisch. It
was truly a night to remember, and in the words of
one tenth grade student, the singing and dancing were
"amazing." After a Dvar Torah from Etan Schreier,
the house was rocking as Rabbi Kaminetsky
entered and led the tisch in his hora niggunim.
The night was capped off with the students singing the
best of Miami Boys Choir songs, and as the boys were
leaving, all agreed that it was truly a special evening.

| DRS Athletics and Activities Update |
 |
Most of the sports activities this week were postponed
due to the heavy snow storms over the weekend. The
one game that did get played was dominated by
our Varsity hockey Squad (4-0-0-1), as they
easily defeated North Shore 9-1 to extend their
winning streak to four games. The team was led by a
hat-trick from Dovid Schulman and two
goals from Captain Noam Inlser. Also
contributing goals were Captain Aron Lederman,
Michael Schertz , Eitan Stern and Avner Skoczylas.
This upcoming week is chock full of exciting events.
This Motzai Shabbat both basketball teams are in
action as our varsity plays in the final round of
the Mark Sackin Tournament in the College of
Staten Island, while the J.V plays in a battle for first
place against the Rambam Redman. On Sunday there
will be the first ever quadrupleheader in our gym.
The festivities kick off with the JV Hockey team
trying to remain unbeaten against Rambam, while our
varsity hockey team squares off against their varsity
at 4:00. After that game the gym will shift to a
basketball venue with our JV Basketball squad playing
the HANC Hurricanes at 6:30. The varsities will play
the nightcap of the doubleheader.
There are two other games to note in the upcoming
week including the much-anticipated return of Scott
Topiel to the DRS gym. This Tuesday in the battle
for first place in the division the Varsity Hockey
team greets the HAFTR Flames in what should be an
exciting match. Every fan will be presented with a
gift when they arrive. This Wednesday night our
Varsity has a rematch with Rambam. DRS looks to
repeat the victory from the first game of the season.
In other sports news, our flag football
tournament, despite the inclement weather, is
under way. Be sure to check upcoming emails for
results in this exciting event.
On Tuesday, the all-new DRS math team
took part in the Nassau County Interscholastic Math
League. Teams of ten from SKA, HAFTR, and Rambam
all came together at DRS to participate in the
competition. Each player was given three sets of two
questions, but was given only ten minutes to complete
each set. When the final question was answered, the
five highest scores of each team were added up to get
that team's total score. The competition was fierce, but
DRS came out victorious with a total score of 24
out of 30. The DRS math team is currently rated
number nine in all of Nassau County, and our elite
team will be waiting for the next meet with great
anticipation, as we continue our march towards
the number 1 ranking.

| Happy Birthday Mr. Feldman! |
 |
|
This past Tuesday, our Principal, Mr. Feldman,
came
into the school building like any other day. He wasn't
expecting his office to be converted into a party room,
as the student G.O. brought streamers, balloons,
hats, and a cake to celebrate his birthday. Mr.
Feldman truly appreciated the surprise, and we
wish him many more happy birthdays!
